humorous and inspiring

People are incredible.
People are also hilarious.

Here's a few things from the past week or so that have just made me smile or think.
Hopefully they evoke a similar response from you.

"Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes." -Jim Carrey

Received this email from BYU freshman housing:
(remember that little announcement from conference?)

"Have you thought about where you'll live next fall? Why not live on campus? For Fall-Winter 2013-14, we will have designated upperclassman communities at Heritage Halls and Wyview Park.

Want to live on campus but not in the designated upperclassman buildings? No problem! You'll also be able to select from any of our other available spaces on campus. Just keep in mind that if you're not in the upperclassman community, you'll be around freshmen.

Room selection begins tomorrow, February 6, at 10 a.m.

Now for the inspiring:

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Eleanor Roosevelt
"It matters not what someone was born, but what someone grows to be."
J.K. Rowling

"I'm only as tall as my heart will let me be, and I'm only as small as the world will make me seem. And when the going gets rough and I feel like I may fall, I'll look on the bright side, I'm roughly six feet tall."

The best dreams happen when you're awake.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

one of those days

Today was just the perfect amount of cold. I could wear my sweatshirt and curl up with a blanket on the couch while working on homework. Those are the best kind of days.
I love this girl. She's just crazy enough to keep me sane.

late-night, chem-is-driving-me-crazy dance party to "gangnam style"
putting off the room organization while bouncing on her long board
I aced my New Testament exam. It's a pretty great feeling to see "way to go" pop up on the screen next to your score as you leave the testing center.

Speaking of which, General Conference is this weekend. I am beyond excited!!

No classes on Fridays was the best decision. ever. I mean, who doesn't want a three-day weekend every single week. of course, that just means I have a full day to do laundry. but still.

And to round out this totally random post... here's some thought-provoking quotes.

have a lovely day. or night. whatever you like.

oh, one last thing. you see those little boxes down there next to "reactions" that you can click on? click on them. I'm curious as to what you think about these posts. thanks.

the changing season

this is what I saw as I walked home from class today. it literally took my breath away.
sunset. fall colors. mountains. and a rainbow. absolutely gorgeous.
gosh I love Utah.
you really should click on the picture to see it full-size. just saying.
also my little blog hit a big milestone with this: one hundred postsI was excited, ok.

this song has been stuck in my head for the last week or so.
"Summer is Over" by Jon McLaughlin and Sara Bareilles

Be happy. Life is beautiful if you just look at the little things around you.
Have a lovely day.

monday thoughts

your words of wisdom for the week:

tonight I got to hang out with some of my friends from my freshman ward.
namely Angela, Brooke, Jeff, Nick, and Sam.
it was an absolute blast. Jeff, Angela, Brooke, and I hung out at Brooke's family's house, just swinging on the swing set, picking berries, and eating ice cream.
we kidnapped Nick (and Sam) for one more late-night Beto's adventure before he heads out to Chile. and then we talked for a few hours.
gosh I love these people so much!

words of wisdom

day 1 of following the schedule. I can do this!

words of wisdom for the week:

I got my first parking ticket the other day. Apparently I couldn't park in a student lot during certain hours. But it wasn't for much.
First ticket: check.

exciting things I did today:
purchased milk and Kleenex.
slept in.
saw a few fireworks.
watched the movie "Sarah's Key" with my roomies. which was absolutely amazing.
proceeded to have an hour long conversation about old books, history, and what things could be hidden in the apartment.

resolutions report:
blog post. check.
up at 8:30. not check.
daily schedule. not check.
wrote a letter. half check.
made bed. check.
took a picture. getting ready for the apartment tour post that's coming soon.
2 hours intellectual stimulation. read a book and started another.
other side of the room. organized so only a few pieces of desk have been occupied.
in bed by midnight. so close... but no check.

five and a half out of nine. not horrible for the first day.
hope your first monday in July was as good as mine :)

words for the wise

Pinterest is a wonderful thing. I particularly love finding quotes on there. You can look at my quotes board, but I wanted to share just a few of them that have particularly been running around me head or that I just really liked.

seriously though. country music is THE BEST. particularly Rascal Flatts' new album.

my mom actually shared this one with me. love it.
So here's the plan:
Monday words of wisdom for the week (sorry I'm a day late).
And then Smile Moments on Friday.
Look forward to them. It's going to be great.
Hope you feel inspired.
Now go do something amazing.
